This update marks a significant move in the gaming subscription world. Recently, Microsoft’s newly appointed head of gaming management openly criticized the high cost of its subscription service, indicating that changes were on the horizon.
In response, today Microsoft announced a notable reduction in monthly fees for its ultimate service package. The revised pricing lowers the monthly fee from $29.99 to $22.99, while the PC-focused version now costs $13.99 instead of $16.49.
There is, however, an important adjustment regarding new game releases. New entries in the Call of Duty series will no longer appear immediately on the service. Instead, these titles will be available on both service tiers one year after their initial launch.
This change prompts questions about whether the subscription service will continue to meet expectations and how the postponement of new game titles might affect user enthusiasm.
