Sony has made an announcement regarding the PS5 Pro, confirming its release date which is right around the corner for gaming enthusiasts eager to embrace the most advanced Sony gaming console.
The arrival of the PlayStation 5 Pro is set for Thursday, November 7, 2024, in various regions including the US, UK, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, as detailed in the official PlayStation blog.
Beginning September 26, fans can start pre-ordering the much-anticipated mid-generation console.
Sony has also revealed the price for the PS5 Pro, which will be set at $699.99 / £699.99 and approximately AU$1052.99. This establishes a price difference of $200 / £200 / AU$253.99 between the Pro model and the standard version of the PS5, marking the PS5 Pro as Sony's priciest console to date.
In addition to sharing the release date, Sony has provided an initial glimpse of the console. Images showcasing its appearance are available below.
The PS5 Pro appears to maintain the sleek white design prevalent in this generation of Sony devices, while potentially incorporating interchangeable panels similar to the base PS5 and the PS5 Slim. Its overall aesthetic seems to align more with the PS5 Slim than with the original PS5 model. This is beneficial as the console will support the existing Disc Drive attachment for PS5, despite not including a disc drive initially.
Although there's an ongoing discussion about the necessity of this mid-generation enhancement, the excitement surrounding the launch of any new console remains undeniable, and gaming fans are certainly looking forward to it.
